Matcha is a type of green tea that’s packed with antioxidants and has numerous health benefits. When mixed with milk and ice, it makes for a refreshing and delicious drink.

In this blog post, we’ll show you how to make the best iced matcha latte. We’ll also share some tips on what kind of matcha to use and how to troubleshoot if your latte isn’t turning out the way you want it to.

So let’s get started!

Holy Matcha!  I’ve become a Matcha fanatic …and learned how to make matcha.

It all started about 5 years ago when I wanted an alternative to my daily Vanilla Latte with almond milk.

I wanted to find an alternative to making myself another espresso latte.

I discovered this amazing super drink when I was at a little Matcha Cafe in San Diego, not too far from my home.

If you’re looking for a delicious and refreshing way to enjoy matcha, look no further than iced matcha lattes!

The first thing you’ll need is matcha powder. You can find this at most health food stores or online.

Make sure to get ceremonial grade matcha, as this is the highest quality and will give you the best flavor.

Next, you’ll need some milk. You can use any kind of milk you like, but we prefer almond, cashew, or coconut milk for our lattes. If you’re using cow’s milk, make sure it’s organic and grass-fed.

This ancient Japanese drink has over 100 times the antioxidants of a regular brewed green tea and is naturally one of the most antioxidant-dense foods on our planet. These antioxidants lower inflammation, fight cancer, lower cholesterol, reduce stress and boost energy.

Matcha also contains amino acids such as L-theanine, focusing and calming the brain without a drowsy side effect.  It gives you a feeling of clarity with an energy that doesn’t crash.

Matcha is extremely easy to make at home.

Supplies You’ll Need to Make an Iced Matcha Latte

  1. Ceremonial matcha
  2. Matcha Bamboo Whisk
  3. Milk Frother
I use this milk frother. I love it because it has an option to froth either hot or cold milk. I use it to steam and froth all my milk. But, there are inexpensive hand frothers that work great too.

Here’s my favorite “Iced Matcha Latte” recipe.

  1. Start by whisking together one teaspoon of matcha powder with a few drops of water to form a smooth paste. For best results use water just under a boil.
  2. Whisk vigorously in a zig zag motion using your bamboo whisk if you have one.
  3. Then, add this paste to a glass of cold milk or cold frothed milk and stir well.
You can use any type of milk you like, but we think whole milk, almond milk , or cashew milk work best.
  4. You can also froth your milk with a hand frother or a frothing cup. I have this frother.
  5. There are so many milk choices. Almond milk, Cashew, Oat…whatever you like best will work perfectly.
  6. Once everything is evenly mixed, add a few ice cubes and enjoy!
  7. If you’re feeling extra fancy, you can top your iced matcha latte with whipped cream or a sprinkle of cinnamon.

No worries if you don’t have a bamboo whisk and tea bowl.

You can really use anything that will help make a froth.  I kitchen whisk or even a fork will do.

There are so many different grades of Matcha.

The Ceremonial Grade is the best. It’s a bright green color, like the photo above.

Below is an awesome recipe for a Blended Ice Matcha.

Blended Ice Matcha Recipe

  1. Add 1-2 teaspoons of matcha powder to a cup or mug.
If you want a sweeter latte, add a teaspoon of honey or maple syrup at this point.
  2. Next, pour in around 1/2 cup of boiling water and use a whisk to mix everything together until it’s nice and frothy.
  3. Add 1 cup of ice cubes to a blender, followed by your matcha mixture.
Blend until the ice is completely blended and you have a smooth, icy drink.
  4. Add a flavor if you like it sweet. A great and healthy choice is to add maple syrup or honey or an organic flavoring. I like vanilla. Here’s a great vanilla syrup.
  5. Next, pour into a glass and enjoy!

NOTE: If your latte is too sweet, add a little more matcha powder. If it’s too bitter, add a bit more honey or maple syrup. And if it’s not cold enough, add more ice cubes and blend again.

Now that you know how to make an iced matcha latte and an ice blended matcha latte you can experiment with different flavorings and enjoy.

Who would have thought that something as simple as adding a little green powder to water could be so good for you? Matcha is a finely ground powder made from green tea leaves. And it turns out, this humble little powder has some pretty powerful health benefits.

Health Benefits of Matcha

For starters, matcha is packed with antioxidants. In fact, it contains more than 10 times the amount of antioxidants found in regular green tea. These antioxidants help to protect cells from damage and may even reduce the risk of some chronic diseases. Matcha is also a good source of fiber and chlorophyll, which are both important for maintaining a healthy digestive system. And last but not least, matcha contains caffeine – but unlike other sources of caffeine, matcha provides a steady stream of energy without the dreaded crash later on. So if you’re looking for a healthy way to boost your energy levels, matcha is definitely worth trying!

Looking for an energizing and healthy drink? Matcha may be your perfect beverage! This ancient Japanese drink is naturally one of the most antioxidant-dense foods on our planet. These antioxidants lower inflammation, fight cancer, lower cholesterol, reduce stress and boost energy. In addition, matcha contains amino acids such as L-theanine, focusing and calming the brain without a drowsy side effect. So next time you’re feeling sluggish, reach for a cup of matcha instead of coffee – you’ll get a feeling of clarity with an energy that doesn’t crash.

How to Choose the Best Matcha

When choosing matcha, it is important to consider the quality of the powder. Matcha should be bright green in color (shown in the photo at the top of the page) and have a fine, silky texture. It should also be free of any clumps or lumps. Lower-quality matcha will have a duller color and may be bitter in taste.
