Spa From Home is the New Work From Home

How many times have we heard people say work from home or #WFH this year. A lot, is the answer. Which is why I have decided to change it up and we’re officially into the spa from home phase.

There are so many small hacks and DIY tricks that you can add into your routine for a little R&R.

Let’s face it, life has felt hard this year for everyone. People have been more stressed out this year, more emotionally tired, and maybe even a little bit harder on yourself.

That’s why I am here to say… it’s time to treat, heal, and pamper you! Because you are a goddess and deserve it all.

So I have put together a few ideas that you can slip into your day. I’m talking about things that you can do while cooking din for the fam or while out on your morning dog walk. Or maybe this can be a sign that you need a day off and to tell your laundry machine, not today hun! You’ve got a self-spa to do!

The amplified bath.

Tubs can be two things. For a quick clean…. Or, in this case, a luxurious experience. Amplify your bath time with Epsom salts, some essential oil, and your favorite DIY candle. Dim the lighting and deep breathe. The setup takes a good 2 minutes, including taking off your bra.

Homemade face mask:

¼ of an avocado, 1 teaspoon of organic honey, and ½ teaspoon of olive oil (or any natural oil). That’s it! No need to buy a $15 mask from Sephora. Try this hydrating alternative that will leave your skin wanting more.

Poor mans mani/ pedi.

Cuticle oil, cuticle clippers, a nail file, some jojoba oil. Sit on the floor of your bathroom and get to work, girl. Nothing is better and more satisfying than giving yourself a little nail makeover. I’m telling you, you don’t need nail polish either. Just sand those puppies down, clean it up and add a little jojoba for moisture. And there you have glorious nails that will make you feel like a natural ladyyyy.

Lather up your hair in a DEEP conditioner.

Trust me, you’ve got all night. Just throw whatever conditioner you have on and let it soak in while you watch reruns of “Sex and the City.” Or, try this homemade hair mask: Coconut Oil + Jojoba Oil + Peppermint Essential Oil.

Dinner for one!

Light a candle, put on a Nancy Meyers movie in the background, I recommend “Something’s Gotta Give,” and grab a pasta box from the top shelf of your pantry. It’s time to heal yourself with a warm bowl of pasta with arrabbiata sauce.

The “You Deserve it Pasta”

  1. 3 tablespoons butter or extra virgin olive oil.
  2. 2–4 teaspoons crushed red pepper flakes*, or more/less to taste.
  3. 1 small yellow or red onion, finely diced.
  4. 6 large cloves garlic, minced or pressed.
  5. 2 (28-ounce) cans whole tomatoes, preferably San Marzano.
  6. 1/2 cup packed fresh basil leaves, torn or roughly-chopped.
