How to Paint Shoes using Watercolor

Painting on shoes can take a pair of boring white sneakers and make them look anything but boring.

I love to paint. It’s calming and meditative.

…and painting on shoes is the perfect canvas….literally...they’re canvas shoes, LOL!

You are going to love painting on shoes that fit your style and personality. Maybe you like blue…you can make watercolor in a blue vibe. It’s really up to you! (I have an easy to follow video below if that works best for you.)

Let’s get started!!!

How to Paint Shoes Supply List:

Skill Level: Easy

Let’s start by tucking in the tongue of your shoes if you don’t want paint to get on that section.

Start by wetting your foam brush.
You can also use a spray bottle for this part if you have one.

Next, saturate, with water, the area you plan on working on first.

Now dab your paintbrush in water and then in your paint and start painting your shoes with watercolor.

Now, continue layering all your colors.

Add water in sections and then keep layering colors.

Keep saturating your brush in water and blend it on the canvas.

Simply dip your brush in water and continue blending to get smoother transitions between colors.

I love how the colors will bleed together and create another color.

Lastly, heat set your fabric paint by placing your shoes in your dryer for about 30 minutes on the highest setting allowed for the type of fabric used.

What did you think of this project!
How cute would this technique look on a pair of white pants or a white denim jacket.

…and you totally need to make these cute charm bracelets and this macrame fringe bag to go with your new shoes!

Here’s a “Video Tutorial” to help you make the your cute watercolor shoes!
